The Top 9 VA Loan Myths – Busted

What are the top 9 VA Loan Myths? Over the past two decades, I have worked with 1000’s of Veterans and active-duty service members by helping them buy a home using their VA home loan benefit.  During this time, I have heard some of the biggest misconceptions about using the VA loan programs.  Here is a list of just a few:

  • I already used my eligibility once, so I didn’t think I could use it again.
  • I was never told about my VA benefit.
  • It was only for Veterans and I am still on active-duty.
  • I thought my eligibility was expired.
  • I didn’t pick up my certificate, so I didn’t think I could use my VA loan benefit.
  • I have VA entitlement, so I automatically quality for a VA loan.
  • The $36,000 listed on my Certificate of Eligibility won’t buy a house in my community.
  • It is only for military on active-duty and I got out after four years.
  • I thought it was harder to qualify for a VA home loan.

There are so many more that I have heard over the years, but I think this is why we need to change this perception and communicate the many benefits of the VA home loan.

This is where having a relationship with a VA loan specialist comes in handy.  What is a VA loan specialist?
